Next up in our Meet the Team series, it’s Client Support Executive, dancing queen and gym fanatic, Georgia Cowen.
Introduce yourself and your role at Agency Works...
"My role is all about making sure our clients feel valued and supported.
"I help them access whatever help they need, whether that’s from myself or other members of the team, I’ll signpost them in the right direction."
How did you end up in this role?
"I grew up in Dagenham in Essex, but moved to Leicester to go to performing arts college when I was 16. I’ve been dancing and singing since I was about two-years-old.
"When I graduated college, I wanted to see the world a bit. I went to Greece and worked for a hotel entertainment team, and then to Cyprus and worked on a cruise where I would do the night-time show. I loved it!
"I then got my first office job as a claims consultant. It was really fast paced and it taught me a lot as you were dealing with people at what was often quite an emotional time for them.
"They just wanted the reassurance that you understand what they’re feeling and you're going to do your best to make things better.
"After four years, I went travelling around Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia and the time away gave me some clarity around what I enjoyed doing and the career path I wanted to take. I could only see myself in a job that involved working closely with clients and making sure they are happy."
What's the best thing about working at Agency Works?
"I love helping clients and getting them the answers and support quickly from our experts. I enjoy chatting to different people and feeling like I am helping them as much as possible.
"I’ve never worked anywhere like this before. The people are so good to be around and you don't just feel like a number.
"We do so much fun stuff as well – like the Happiness Festival last year. We did happy yoga, old-school sports day things like an egg and spoon race, and had a mobile bar doing loads of cocktails named after us. It was just so great!
What do you like about agency life?
"That the people who work in them are so creative, fun and passionate. They’re just lovely, friendly, genuine people."
What value do clients get from working with you?
"I think my previous client services experience means I’m quite good at building rapport with people. I'm always trying to put myself in the clients’ shoes.
"I’m quite an energetic person, naturally, so I like to think I bring that energy to clients, whether that’s over the phone or email. So, if they are struggling with something, they know they have a friendly face here to help them."
Any unfulfilled life ambitions?
"I teach children’s dance classes in my spare time, so maybe to eventually open a school, or even just some classes of my own in the future.
"I definitely want to travel more. I feel like you can never have too much travel. Fiji or New Zealand are on the list, and maybe South America. There’s nothing like watching the sunset every day with no worries, no stress. The only thing you worry about is what your tan looks like, and what kind of sightseeing you're going to do the next day."
What do you like doing when you're not at work?
"I like spending time with friends and family at the pub. I love the gym too, I’m there probably five times a week."
And finally, any interesting talents or claims to fame?
"I’ve taught Dermot O’Leary to line dance on This Morning. There was a country and western festival on somewhere at the time so they were doing a feature on it and they wanted the presenters to have a go.
"I also got to appear on This Morning when Hugh Jackman was on there promoting The Greatest Showman. We were all dressed up as showgirls, with the feathers and everything, and came out to surprise him!
"As a kid I did lots of little bits of TV work and I remember being on Nickelodeon and meeting Olly Murs. I was obsessed with him at the time, so that was a big deal."
